Chils abuse issues woke me up and a disinterested teenager made me decide to study the origins of "the truth" closely, so I could prove it to her. Here we are. We attended the memorial last year and that was our last.

How Much $$$ Did You Contribute To The Organization?
by minimus ini know of some elders that regularly gave about $500 per month towards the kingdom hall and other watchtower society interests....and you???
?

Too damn much. Too late to think about it or count it and have regrets. The day I read about the Candace Conti case I knew I'd never contribute again. Fortunately, I woke up shortly after.

Just got home from a fabulously fun charity event. Having some chilled amaretto vodka with a splash of chambord.
Usually a glass red, but already had a vodka drink at the benefit. Catching up on some jwn reading.

Do you pray over your meals? If so why? If not, when did you stop and why?
by BU2B into answer my question, no i do not pray over meals anymore exept for when i am with other jws i do a 15 second head bow for appearances sake.
i just came to the realization god had nothing to do with whether i ate or not.
many believers are starving right now whilst many non-believers are eating like kings.. also why should god give me food while he lets little children in dprk concentration camps starve to death.

No, stopped when I woke up. Realized if he ever existed, he stopped caring long ago.

Today I Da'd -Twenty-five years ago. Regrets -some.
by Xanthippe inyes twenty-five years ago today we sent in our da letter.
some regrets, not about leaving the cult obviously, but sometimes when i read about people slowly fading and keeping in touch with family and friends i wonder if we should have done that.
of course it was before the internet in 1989 so we didn't know about people fading.. one day we were driving along and we had been talking about moving congregations because we knew something was wrong but of course we thought it was local.

I like that you both got out together. That's kinda sweet :)
I would like to DA on principle alone, but it is tough when you have family in and harbor the hope that you can wake them up. It's only been a year for me, so we'll see what happens this year.
I hope you enjoyed your wine :). Anniversaries are tough :(

Florida man shoots teen
by designs inmichael dunn pulled into a convenience store parking lot next to a suv full of teenagers who were playing loud music.
he asked the teens to turn down the music, it is uncertain what words were exchanged at that point.
michael dunn then shot 4 times into the driver's side of the suv.

Living in Florida, as I do, is sometimes an unfortunately surreal experience. While we are a melting pot, in some ways, we are woefully behind in many areas and attitudes. It saddens and angers me, as I grew up in New England and never saw the type of despicable prejudices I have seen upon moving to Florida.
Yes, loud music can be annoying, but what logical person doesn't realize how temporary the situation is and just let it be?!?

Finished "Just Kids" by Patti Smith yesterday for book club. I didn't know the story between her and Robert Mapplethorpe. Interesting and a book I wouldn't have noticed unless book club had chosen it. Now, I'm debating starting "Monuments Men" or "Unweaving the Rainbow" by Dawkins.

My daughter went through issues related to BDD just over a year ago. CBT therapy has helped her and she is doing much better now. PM me if you would like to talk further.
